[날씨] Lowest this fall, 9.7℃ in Seoul… Temperature drops after rain tomorrow

[앵커]

The morning temperature in Seoul dropped to 9.7 degrees, making it the coldest this fall.

The rain falling in the south and Jeju today will spread across the country tomorrow, and after the rain stops, temperatures are expected to drop further than today. Reporter Kim Min-kyung!

It was quite chilly on the way to work today. How much did the temperature drop compared to yesterday?

[기자]

Yes, the lowest temperature in Seoul today was 9.7 degrees, 0.8 degrees lower than yesterday.

It was the lowest temperature this fall, falling below 10 degrees for the first time.

The coldest place in the country is Seoraksan Mountain in Yangyang, Gangwon-do, where the temperature dropped to -0.2 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in many parts of the central region plummeted below 10 degrees, including 4.1 degrees in Cheorwon, 6 degrees in Paju, and 8.5 degrees in Daejeon.

This is because cold air with upper-level temperatures below -10 degrees Celsius moved south, and strong winds added to the radiative cooling overnight.

Even in the middle of the day, the somewhat chilly fall weather is expected to continue, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees in Seoul and 23 degrees in Gwangju, similar to previous years.

Tomorrow, it will rain across the country and temperatures will be similar to or slightly higher than normal.

After the rain stops the day after tomorrow, cold air will come down from the north again, and daytime temperatures are expected to drop by about 5 degrees compared to today.

There is rain in the forecast. Will it fall as heavily this time as it did last Friday?

[기자]

Yes, it will rain today in Jeju Island and the southern part of the country due to the influence of the southern trough.

Tomorrow, low pressure will arrive from the west, and rain will spread across the country.

Fortunately, the intensity of the low pressure is expected to be weaker than last Friday.

However, Jeju Island and the southern coast, which are affected by both, are expected to see somewhat heavy rain again this time.

From today to the day after tomorrow, up to more than 120 mm of rain will fall on Jeju Island, more than 100 mm on the southern coast, and 80 mm in the southern inland area.

As much as 60mm is expected in the central region from tomorrow to the day after tomorrow.

In particular, caution is needed as strong rain of 30 to 50 mm per hour is expected to be concentrated in Jeju Island and 20 to 30 mm per hour in the southern part of the country along with gusty winds during the rain from this afternoon to tomorrow.

The rain will mostly stop by the morning of the day after tomorrow, and some inland areas are expected to continue into the morning.

Along with the rain, we need to be careful of strong winds.

Starting tomorrow night on the west coast and the day after tomorrow, strong winds of 15 to 20 meters per second are expected in most parts of the country.
