Japan’s Minister for Administrative Reform, Taro Kono, mentioned the possibility of canceling the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games for the first time among Japanese ministers.
In an interview with Reuters on the 14th, Kono said about the Tokyo Olympics, “At this point, we need to do our best to prepare for the tournament, but we can go either way.”
In response, Kyodo News Agency reported that Kono, the first Japanese minister in charge, mentioned the uncertainty of hosting the Tokyo Olympics, and the ripples were rising.
The Japanese government and the IOC of the International Olympic Committee are sticking to the position that the Tokyo Olympics will be held in July this year despite the recent spread of Corona 19.
