[국제]Japanese Nissan sells Russian assets for ‘1 euro’ … Stop loss amid growing nuclear threat

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida was deeply concerned about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons against Ukraine, saying it was “unpredictable”.

As the situation worsened, Nissan Motors decided to close the business by selling its assets in Russia for only 1 euro.

Russia’s indiscriminate attack on Ukrainian civilians has been classified as a war crime by seven major countries, the leaders of the G7.

Leaders warned that Russia’s use of nuclear weapons will have serious consequences.

After the video G7 summit, Prime Minister Kishida expressed strong concern about the Russian nuclear threat.

Originally from Hiroshima, where the first atomic bomb in human history was dropped, he again emphasized the eradication of nuclear weapons.

However, the Japanese government is cautious, for example adding more sanctions to Russia to only increase the number of asset blocks.

As the situation in Ukraine worsens, Japanese companies are withdrawing from Russia one after another.

Nissan Motor Company has announced that it will sell its local assets, including its manufacturing plant, to a Russian state research institute for 1 euro or approximately 1,400 won.

The loss suffered from the closure of the Russian business, which began in 2009, was approximately 1 trillion won.

This situation is due to the unstable business environment when Russia designated Japan as a “no-friend country” in March, which took the lead in sanctions against Russia.

Toyota has decided to end production in Russia and Mitsubishi Motors is also considering retirement.
