China said it has decided to put equal sanctions on related US officials who imposed sanctions such as banning visits and freezing assets against 14 vice chairmen of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chun-ying said at a briefing that the targets are the US government, Congress, and members of non-governmental organizations and their families who have been primarily responsible for doing malicious actions in the Hong Kong issue.

Spokesman Hwa Chun-ying, however, said they would know who the target was, without mentioning specific people or timing.

He also added that China is also canceling visa waiver benefits for US diplomatic passport holders visiting Hong Kong or Macau.
