[경제]Tomorrow’s banking sector improvement TF…’oligopoly’ banking market, how will it change?

The financial authorities’ task force to improve business practices and systems in the banking sector will be launched tomorrow (the 22nd).

By the first half of this year, it has pulled out its sword to resolve the oligopoly system of the five major commercial banks.

There are a total of six key tasks set forth by the TF to improve the management and sales practices of the banking sector.

Among these, the top priority is promoting market competition and improving its structure.

Even President Yoon Seok-yeol is trying to improve the oligopolistic market of the five commercial banks that have been pinched.

First of all, it seems that the exchange loan platform that can be seen as the ‘lowest interest rate search engine’ will become a reality.

In the meantime, despite the government’s active will to introduce it, it has not been easy to promote it due to conflicting interests among financial companies.

Among the large companies, Shinhan Bank quickly stepped forward by announcing the launch of the platform.

A plan to allow new banks to enter the market is also expected to be discussed.

Currently, the banking industry is a single authorization system that requires all difficult conditions to be met, but a detailed authorization method that lowers entry barriers by subdividing it into small and medium-sized businesses and retail banking is being discussed.

A plan to expand the entry into the financial industry of fintech companies with innovative ophthalmology technologies, introducing the fourth internet bank following Kakao Bank, K Bank, and Toss Bank, was also on the table.

However, it is pointed out that even if the number of banks increases, it has not led to improvements in existing bank practices or consumer rights and interests, so it is expected that the key question will be whether alternatives to support practical effects will be developed.
