For the first time in Argentina, anyone over 18 years of age will be able to register and operate a bank account completely through the social network WhatsApp, after the Banco Itaú launched “Chat Account” yesterday, a product to simplify the use of digital money.
It is a new way to open a free savings account (and for life) through the cell phone, but with the difference that it does not require the download of an application and that it allows you to do the same operations as through homebanking, but 100% channeled through WhatsApp.
“We are convinced that we have a differential product that we can build on an instant messaging platform that 99% of people who have a cell phone use today,” said Guillermo Jejcic, Director of Wholesale Banking and IT at Itaú, during a virtual presentation of the product.
“Account Chat” is aimed at an audience that, with the arrival of the pandemic, had to make the leap to virtual money management but is not used to managing in a digital environment and who, nevertheless, knows how to function on WhatsApp .
“We want the model to be very simple and that it can be fully managed through the messaging service but, if the client needs to make a query, claim or need a product that does not offer Chat Account, they can manage it through the Call Center or want to do so in person you can make an appointment and go to a branch, ”explained Juan Pablo di Tomaso, Head of Itaú on WhatsApp and Agile Tribe Leader.
