(ro) Next Sunday, August 15, 2021, this year’s “Mainova IRONMAN European Championship” will take place in and around Frankfurt. This year around 1,350 athletes will take part. The start of the event will be given at 6:25 a.m. at Langener Waldsee, where a 3.8 km long swim course has to be completed. Afterwards, the participants cycle a 185 km long bike route through the surrounding districts. The final running route of 42.195 km leads in several laps along the banks of the Main and ends there at 10:00 p.m. at the latest with the final finish on the Römerberg. Due to the event, road traffic restrictions are to be expected in and around Frankfurt and especially in the area of downtown Frankfurt.
The Frankfurt police recommend, if possible, using public transport and avoiding the affected areas as far as possible.
We would like to raise awareness of the proper parking of vehicles in order to avoid towing measures.

In many areas, the implementation of the event this year is shaped by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Here, too, we refer to the website of the organizer and the information and recommendations there. Interested spectators in particular should note that some areas will be cordoned off and can only be entered by participants and their registered relatives (Expo Mainkai, Langener Waldsee, Römerberg).
