On August 25, subject C was able to successfully enforce a third-party claim against a German citizen residing in Hong Kong at the main customs office in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2016, he owed a Bavarian tax office over 90,000 euros in inheritance and gift tax as well as late payment surcharges.
The officers carried out a customs check at Frankfurt Airport, which was independent of suspicion. When the personal data was queried, the open claim against the traveler emerged. In order to avoid the seizure of his luxury watch, the debtor verifiably transferred the outstanding tax liability on site at the airport and was then able to leave the Federal Republic of Germany for Hong Kong.
