Two more people infected with coronavirus at Premier League clubs | NOW

In the Premier League, two more people were found positive for the corona virus on Saturday. The competition organizer does not want to say whether these are players or staff members, but does report that the two infected employees are not active at the same club.

Earlier this week, six people working in the English top league were already infected with COVID-19. A total of 996 tests were performed in the past few days. During the first test round, held on May 17-18, 748 tests were still available.

“We have not retested the six who tested positive previously because they remain in home isolation,” the Premier League said in a statement. “The players or staff who were found to be infected during the second round of testing will also have to go home for seven days, according to the protocol.”

On Saturday afternoon, Watford announced that another two employees are expected to remain in home isolation because they have come into contact with persons who had contracted the coronavirus. It is therefore not clear whether one of the new positive tests has been taken at Watford.

Premier League director Richard Masters said on Saturday morning that he is confident that the Premier League can be resumed. The top league aims for June 12 as the resumption date.
