In Yucatan it will not be possible to circulate from 10:30 at night to 5 in the morning

On the same day that another record was reported in Yucatan for daily cases of Covid-19 coronavirus — albeit with lagging figures from the IMSS — Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal announced yesterday the return of restrictions in the State.

In a message through his social networks, the head of the Executive announced the return of the Dry Law since last night, so the sale of alcoholic beverages is no longer allowed; the closure of the tourist marinas from tomorrow Thursday and the prohibition to circulate, also from tomorrow, from 10:30 at night until 5 in the morning. In the coastal municipalities, due to the number of vacationers, the restriction will be implemented from 9 at night until 5 in the morning.

This operation will apply to all types of vehicles, except emergency vehicles, transfers to medical units, medicine purchases, and those that transport health personnel.

Non-essential businesses will close at six in the afternoon and cannot be opened on Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurants will remain open from Monday to Friday, but again they will not be able to receive diners on the weekend and will have to operate under the modality of home service.

In the case of essential businesses, Vila Dosal said that they will have to adjust working hours so that their workers have their departure on time before road closures.

The state executive said that these restrictions are due to the fact that many people have relaxed hygiene and prevention measures and have confused economic reactivation with the reactivation of their social life.

Yesterday, 276 new cases were reported in Yucatan, including 190 that Social Security had not reported and were behind. Of that total, 159 corresponded to the state capital. There are already 6,661 positive cases, 72 of which are from another country or another state.

The deaths on the day were 15 to reach 672 since the start of the pandemic. It was reported that 418 people are hospitalized and in total isolation. There are other patients in hospital waiting for diagnosis, but it was not disclosed how many there are.

In the State Congress, unanimously, local deputies approved the appearance of State Secretary of Health, Mauricio Sauri Vivas, before the Legislative Power, to report what the state government is doing due to the pandemic. No date was set for the appointment with the legislators, which will be virtual.

In the country yesterday, 836 new deaths from Covid-19 and 7,051 infections were reported, reaching 36,327 deaths and 311,486 confirmed cases.

The Mexican government announced that it will extend the partial closure of its border with the United States for an additional 30 days due to the pandemic.

Two women joined yesterday in voices of concern that recommend reinforcing protective measures against the coronavirus.

The first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, asked the population of her country to wear a face mask in the summer months, in a tweet that contrasted with the position of her husband, President Donald Trump.

Valentina Alazraki, correspondent for Televisa at the Vatican, regretted the increase in cases in Mexico, where, she said, “there is no light at the end of the tunnel.”
