If January 7 marks the day of commemoration in France of the Charlie Hebdo attack – during which the cartoonists Charb, Tignous, Wolinski, in particular, were assassinated – it is also the first anniversary of the death of France Gall. The singer of “Résiste” died of breast cancer just a year ago at the age of 70. During her song career, she won the Eurovision competition, for Luxembourg in 1965, with “Poupée de cire”, written by Serge Gainsbourg. The one who knows passionate love stories with Claude François and Julien Clerc will eventually marry and start a family with Michel Berger, of which she will be the muse.

It was he who composed for her “The Declaration”, “He played the upright piano”, or even “Babacar”. It is also with him that she will have two children, Raphaël and Pauline. Unfortunately, their happiness will be short-lived … In 1992, Michel Berger succumbed to a heart attack. Five years later, Pauline will not survive her cystic fibrosis. It is at this moment, that France Gall will decide to stop singing.

“We definitely lost our carelessness that day”, described the singer, according to our colleagues from Here Paris. They then decide to take care of the girl alternately. “Everyone will have their year so that they never leave Pauline who needs constant care at home”, Paris explains here. But if France Gall wanted to stop singing, Michel absolutely disagreed, she admitted: “I didn’t realize the shock it was for Michel. I think I hurt her for the first time… ”. The family experienced a lot of drama, after the heart attack of Michel Berger in 1992 in Ramatuelle in full vacation, France Gall learns that she is suffering from cancer a year later. In 1997 his daughter Pauline died from his illness…
