Tesla opens first Supercharger V3 location with 250kW peak power in the Netherlands – Image and sound – News

Even with our energy mix it is possible. A Tesla Model 3 drives an average of 1 km with 200Wh.
If we look at the energy density of petrol, we end up with about 8.9kWh per liter.

A petrol car should run 1: 44.5 for the same energy consumption. Well I know few who do that. Even with diesel you do not get close to that and then you would have to drive 1:50 with 10kWh per liter.

And then I have not even included the power consumption that is needed to make that liter of petrol. That is also a few kWh. I think 1.5 per liter of gasoline. So I can drive 7.5 kilometers from there.

With my previous diesel (2016 polo) I drove quite well and reached an average of 1:18. If I correct that for how I drive now I will end up at 1:20.

With 40K km per year I get 2000L fuel. That comes down to about 15K kilometers electric.

Then we have not yet talked about transporting that fuel (often by truck) and the energy requirement of pumping it up. However, the latter is not necessarily something you can count on if you generate electricity centrally with oil combustion. Then you have that too.

All in all, I can drive ~ 100,000 km per year before I use the same amount of energy as before with the 40K polo even if we burn crude oil for electricity. In principle, with the solar panels on the roof, I have quite some greenness left over.
