SYN during the annual conference

SYN was among the next titles shown during Tencent’s annual conference (Image: Tencent)

Last week, Tencent held its annual conference where the company’s senior vice president, Steven Ma, announced that the company’s drive would be to encompass technology, gaming, and stories for the future of its evolution in game development. . Tencent has been steadily expanding its reach within the gaming industry. Last month they announced that they would be “running the shock system franchise” and would also partner with The Pokemon Company to work on their next Pokemon Unite MOBA.

What is the SYN code?

Among the 40 bizarre updates covered during the presentation, we saw the revealed demo of Code: SYN, an upcoming open-world cyberpunk-inspired FPS. The demo itself is impressive and aims to push the limits of real-time graphics. Although it won’t reflect the final product, the features we can expect are attractive, to say the least. From what we can tell, SYN will be a multiplayer game, but that won’t be clear until we know a little more about the project. No game was actually shown in the demo, though navigating through character creation menus offers a good idea of what to expect.

Among the features shown was the “lock of hair system” that they developed with the help of Epic Games, giving it a realistic yet Pixar-like quality. All customization features including your character, vehicles and even a cyber animal companion will be updated in real time. Players will be able to choose between three different factions, Anarchy, Enforcer and Motorheads, the roles will not be explained in the demo, but only by the names that seem to explain themselves.

SYN is expected to launch next year on PCs and consoles, however, it was not specified which consoles it would go to. Personally, as a fan of movies like Blade Runner, Akira, and other cyberpunk media, I am looking forward to seeing what SYN has to offer. Tencent is looking to market the game globally, so I hope to see many more details in the foreseeable future.
