Donald Trump in telephone conversations with foreign leaders was often unprepared for discussions on serious topics, played by leaders such as Putin or Erdogan and so offensive to the leaders of allied states that some high-ranking officials recognized that he poses a threat to US national security – reports today CNN.
According to two station sources, both former security advisors HR McMaster and John Bolton, former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, former head of White House staff John Kelly, as well as US intelligence officials recognized that his dealings with foreign leaders are often guided by delusions.
Trump has had the most telephone conversations to date with Turkish President Recep Erdogan. Erdogan sometimes called the White House at least twice a week and was directly connected to the President of the United States as instructed by Trump. At the same time, as CNN emphasizes, Trump regularly tormented and humiliated the leaders of America’s main allies in telephone conversations, especially two women: former British Prime Minister Theresa May, who he said was “weak and lacking in her courage” and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who he called “stupid”.
According to CNN, Trump constantly bragged about his wealth, genius and “wonderful” achievements, and criticized his predecessors. According to sources, he did so inter alia in talks with King of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Unem. In talks with Erdogan and Putin, he particularly liked offending George W. Bush and Barack Obama. “G …. they knew,” Trump would say. He also suggested that all matters be dealt with directly with him, and not through the American administration.
