The Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Paulo Cunha, was the head of the solemn session of City Day, which took place this Thursday afternoon, at the main entrance of Parque da Devesa, next to the bus station.
The space, one of the great business cards of the city, has become symbolically called Praça da Cidadania and will display as a tribute element to the Famalicenses the symbol of the municipality and the word Famalicão in monoblock.

This was one of the ways that the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão found to mark the Day of the City 2020, which took place in very special circumstances with a great collective tribute from the president to the territory for the way Vila Nova de Famalicão knew how to react to the pandemic da covid – 19.
“What is fair this year is to medal all Famalicenses”, said the mayor when presenting the proposal for the commemorations of City Day 2020.
“The Famalicenses gave and are giving an exemplary answer, not only at the professional level – health professionals, public security, volunteers from fire brigades, but also many professionals from other areas, such as garbage collection, the sector food, farmers, industries and their workers, carriers and their drivers of light and heavy vehicles, etc… -, but also on a personal level, due to the way people knew how to withdraw to family confinement and know how to abide by DGS rules, helping this way to combat the spread of covid 19 ”.
