Search resumes for 14-year-old girl in North Sea near Ameland | NOW

The search for a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing the previous night resumed on Sunday morning. The girl took a swim with her father and sister, who lost sight of her, at the Nes near Ameland.

At around 10:30 PM, the father and daughter made a report and the local authorities launched a search.

For hours, five lifeboats from the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM) and a helicopter from the coastguard searched for the missing girl on Saturday night.

The search was halted at 3:00 am, but resumed at 5:30 am on Sunday morning at first daylight. A coastguard plane and two KNRM lifeboats will be deployed, a KNRM spokesperson told NU.nl.

According to the Frisian police, several police units are being searched on Sunday morning on the water, the beach, in the dunes and further surroundings, the service writes down Twitter.

On Saturday night, in addition to the police, islanders also helped with the search. At that time there were waves from 1 to 1.5 meters high.
