Salamanca suspends the article of loss of taxi license to those who do not provide the service

The Salamanca taxi has already adopted its measures against the coronavirus, but as in other cities, many taxi drivers do not go out to work for fear of contagion.

Approximately 50 vehicles of the 220 that are in the Salamanca Taxi fleet, have been out to work for a week and do it in shifts.

The lack of customers on the street makes it useless for taxis to run empty.

Without customers, the income of many taxi drivers will suffer, but they also have to face compliance with municipal regulations.

According to the taxi regulations, it is mandatory to provide the service without interruption, at the risk of losing the license. However, this will not happen since the article that regulates this section has been suspended.

The Salamanca City Council has decided to suspend the application of the articles that sanction those who do not provide the service on a continuous basis, which is as it is required with the exception of the rest day.

This means that no one will lose their license for not going outside in a circumstance like this, given that minimum services have been established and it is a cause of force majeure.
