Residents of North Sumatra Urged to Beware of Dengue Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic

Merdeka.com – The positive case of Covid-19 in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) is still increasing. But people are also reminded to be aware of the threat of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

At this time North Sumatra is entering its transition period, the cycle in which dengue cases usually increase.

“For this reason, people are asked to implement clean living, including cleaning the environment and increasing endurance,” said Volunteer Communication Volunteer Team GTPP Covid-19 North Sumatra, Putri Mentari Sitanggang, Monday (6/7).

DHF has special symptoms such as high fever up to 40 degrees Celsius, body chills, sweating, headaches, bone and muscle aches, nausea and red spots appear on the skin. Also in certain cases bleeding can also occur on the nose and gums.

“Symptoms in addition to symptoms such as fever are also vomiting, abdominal pain, red spots appear on the skin, nosebleeds and bleeding gums. In serious cases can develop into dengue shock syndrome (DSS) which can cause hypothermia and slowing the heart rate,” he explained.

If a Covid-19 and DHF attack occur together it will be fatal. The level of morbidity will increase and has the potential to cause a young Covid-19 sufferer to die.

“So, eradicate mosquito nests in our environment such as draining and cleaning water reservoirs, cleaning trash bins and items that might store water,” Putri added.
