Police divers have returned to the river where Nicola Bulley’s body was found in their ongoing investigation into the cause of her death. The 54-year-old woman was reported missing in March 2020, and her body was discovered in the River Nene several days later. Authorities are now hoping to uncover new evidence that may help them determine how and why she died. This latest development has reignited public interest in the case, as people eagerly await updates on the investigation. In this article, we explore the significance of the police divers’ return to the scene, as well as the latest developments in the case.
Police divers have returned to the River Wyre in Lancashire, six weeks after the discovery of the body of missing mother-of-two, Nicola Bulley. YouTuber Maria Solarz filmed the divers “floating on his back” over the river, recreating a limp and lifeless body. The return comes as coroners seek to confirm the cause of Ms Bulley’s death. Her phone and dog were found after a large search following her disappearance on 27 January. Her body was found a mile downstream on 19 February. An inquest into her death is scheduled for 26 June.
Ms Solarz, who shot the footage during her first visit to the area, claims that the steep incline next to the bench from which Ms Bulley disappeared would have made it highly unlikely that she would have accidentally fallen in the water there. She also claims that, despite being lost for 23 days, Ms Bulley’s body could not have remained in the water at the bench. Ms Solarz adds that the presence of police officers suggests to her that the death was not an “open and shut case”.
At the time of her disappearance, 45-year-old Ms Bulley was classified as a “high-risk” missing person. An investigation into her death is ongoing. The mysterious nature of the case has attracted widespread online speculation from so-called “armchair detectives” looking to solve the crime.
