Offer a bribe to border guards so you don’t have to go to quarantine. Two foreigners were detained on the Latvian-Russian border – Society and Politics – News

At the Silene border checkpoint on June 28, border guards refused entry to Latvia to a Ukrainian citizen born in 1969, as the movement of persons and vehicles through the European Union’s external border crossing points has been banned since March 17.

Upon being refused entry, a Ukrainian citizen presented to the border guards a compulsory motor third party liability insurance policy with a 50-euro banknote inserted in it.

On June 22, border guards in Silene found a Russian citizen born in 1987 entering Latvia. In order for passengers not to be quarantined in Austria for 14 days, the foreigner has offered to pay if the border guards do not carry the border stamps in the passports of the man’s passengers.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated for bribery. The two parties reached an agreement with the prosecutor on the admission of guilt and sentencing – in the case of a Ukrainian citizen – imprisonment for two months, and in the case of a Russian citizen – a fine of 4,300 euros. The penalties will take effect within ten days.
