After a liquid hazardous substance was discovered on glazed areas at the Hansaring stop in the morning and there were closures, the Cologne fire brigade is currently in use at five other stations.

A fire department spokesman said around 6 p.m., according to information from the KVB, emergency services were deployed at the Deutz Messe, Kalk Post, TH Deutz stops in Kalk and Deutz, respectively, and Körnerstrasse and Rochusplatz in Ehrenfeld, and the stations were closed.
The KVB announced that suspected cases were also being checked in four trains on Line 13. Criminal charges were filed with the police.

The KVB CEO also commented: The pollution, especially with substances that could be hazardous to health, “is in no way acceptable,” explained Stefanie Haaks.
When passengers discover paint smears, they should never touch them, the KVB warns. The incidents are not trivial offenses, says Haaks. The KVB will support the police investigation and strengthen controls in stations and trains. The KVB will also make the images of surveillance cameras available to the police.

In the afternoon, the police had reported in the Hansaring case that it was a substance that was used in graffiti smears. Strangers had painted the stainless steel surfaces, walls and tiles extensively with caustic graffiti paint.
