Moto G 5G Plus: Motorola’s second 5G smartphone is also the cheapest at the moment

Motorola returns with a new smartphone from its Moto G range. This time, the focus is on 5G with the integration of the Snapdragon 765. After the Motorola Edge, this is the second 5G model from the firm which comes to tickle Xiaomi.

Motorola introduced 5G earlier on a new range of smartphones with the Motorola Edge. For a first 5G smartphone, it is however above the prices charged for a few years by the brand. Never mind, with the Moto G 5G Plus, Motorola is responsible for offering access to the new network for a more usual price: 349 €.

The umpteenth Motorola model of the year arrives with a most honorable technical data sheet. It has a 6.7-inch LCD panel with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The screen is drilled twice to accommodate a 16-megapixel module and an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle module. On the back, the smartphone offers four sensors placed in a square island. The main module is 48 megapixels. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle module and a 5-megapixel macro module accompany it. Finally, a 2 megapixel depth sensor is responsible for closing the photo shutter.

As said above, the Moto G 5G therefore integrates the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 765, which is coupled with 4 or 6 GB of RAM depending on the model chosen. For storage, the choice will be 64 or 128 GB. A large 5,000 mAh battery is also present – one of the strong points of the Moto G range. It will be able to charge quickly at 20 W thanks to the supplied block. We also find a 3.5 mm mini-jack for fans of wired headsets. A fingerprint sensor seems to be placed on the start button, located on the right edge of the device.

With an expected retail price of € 349, this is the cheapest 5G smartphone from Motorola. It competes with the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite, mid-range 5G model which is offered at € 379 with us. Moreover, the Motorola mobile arises as an alternative to the Xiaomi. If we compare the data sheets, they are almost similar. The Mi 10 Lite has for it the Amoled screen when the Moto G 5G Plus offers, certainly, a “simple” LCD screen but with a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz. The photo component is also more complete and above all, the battery 5,000 mAh can be decisive at the time of choice. It remains to be seen what this Motorola Moto G 5G Plus will be worth when it arrives in our laboratories.
