The reader has wondered why Miguelito will not run for a popularly elected position, it is very suspicious that this is not the case. If the official party does not win the elections, as is foreseeable due to the widespread rejection it generates in the population, the aforementioned character will not suffer further wear and tear, overall, the resources with which they are campaigning come from the State. He will dedicate himself to his business and that’s it. Meanwhile, those who run for mayors and councils will end up worn out and without credibility in their political future. If the official party crowns the strategy of cooptation of the State, and wins the elections through corruption, the purchase of mayors throughout the country and, not respecting the separation of powers, manipulating the law and those who apply it; because the field will be open to continue doing business for the anointed. That is, their strategy is to win, even if they lose…
On the other hand, the non-registration of the MLP couple is a slap in the face to the democracy protected by the mafias in Guatemala. In order for said act to appear legitimate, they also prohibit the registration of Roberto Arzú; this is nothing more than sacrificing a useful fool in order to eliminate a real enemy. Everywhere you can see, they are cleaning the playing field, to make the population believe that we will have free and democratic elections. However, they allow confessed drug dealers, convicted felons, people clearly and openly unqualified or constitutionally barred from participating to register. The system is afraid of the organized population, the affront against the MLP proves it.
Lastly, the attempt by a judge to link journalists and columnists to proceedings, in the framework of the José Rubén Zamora case, crowns the cooptation of which we have been repeatedly speaking. In Guatemala, ducks shoot shotguns, mongrels tie themselves up with sausages, and the blood bank is taken care of by vampires. Beyond the opinion that everyone has about the extinct International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala, CICIG, it is a fact that the corrupt took over the State again, it is evident, it is public and notorious. The threat to freedom of expression is the final blow to a series of well-planned steps taken by a mafia and criminal cabal that is not willing for anyone to compete for political power, for anyone to undress their infamies, for anyone to mess with how They manage their farm.
When in our country we allow characters like Miguelito to flourish while preventing the registration of a solid electoral force, and also trying to silence those who raise their voices, in our country we are very close to returning to the past instead of advancing to the future.
Let’s do the opposite of what they want and give democracy meaning with our decisions, if we don’t, the next to be silenced by the system and the official party could be you. Let’s say no to continuity, abuse of power and impunity.
