Despite the high number of confirmations of infections, the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, stated that there is a slowdown in infections, although they are at their “highest moment”.
“The positive news is that the rate at which the epidemic is rising is getting slower. Why is it positive? Because there will come a time when it will be zero, when the number of cases will no longer increase, ”he said at the afternoon conference on the advance of the pandemic.
Hours earlier, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) estimated that Mexico will reach its “peak” of infections in mid-August.
