Medieval strategy combines city building and battle »Vortex

There are never enough good strategies, and a novelty called Manor Lords acts as a title that could be among the more successful ones. Regardless of the resulting qualities, we have already been fascinated by an interesting topic and a convincing graphic design, which is all the more impressive when you realize that the only Polish developer is working on the game.

Manor Lords is aimed at the PC and is partly a building strategy and partly a tactical strategy. Inside you will find something from Banished, Stronghold and Total War. The construction is to take place organically and realistically, and unlike some other historical building strategies, the conflicts will not only be in numbers, but we can look forward to really large-scale battles. All this is powered by Unreal Engine technology.

Your task, of course, is to build a prosperous medieval metropolis. The game is not set in any particular country or period, but its buildings are inspired by Europe from the 11th to the 15th centuries.

During construction, the game does without a classic grid. The player should have full freedom over the location and orientation of each building. However, it is possible to use the so-called attachment to make city planning more convenient. Your task, of course, is to build a prosperous medieval metropolis. The game is not set in any particular country or period, but its buildings are inspired by Europe from the 11th to the 15th centuries.

Your digital subjects will cultivate fields, grow all kinds of crops, raise animals and make objects. The author promises great attention to detail, so there is no change of seasons, changeable weather or unfortunate circumstances such as illness, hunger or war. And when we are at war, of course we can not forget the aforementioned tactical part. The author of the game says that it would not be a real medieval experience without soldiers on the battlefield.

He therefore strives for realism on the battlefield. Manor Lords will take into account all sorts of formations, morale, fatigue, equipment and weather. As in the Total War series, you have to be very careful about the chosen strategy and the deployment of your units, because numerical superiority is not everything. You will have at your disposal not only infantry, but over time also cavalry or fortifications, but on the other hand, siege engines will also stand against you.

On official website the developer demonstrates motion capture technology or destruction simulation. The graphics look really admirable. It is unbelievable what an individual in this field is able to achieve today with the use of advanced tools. Manor Lords works so well that even some players have expressed doubts about whether it is a real game at all. The author assures that yes, although there will still be a lot of work on it.

The early access version should be released later this fall.

He has been working on the title for three years, but so far he has done so in seclusion. But now he begins to feel that the time is approaching when he will need feedback and community help with testing so that he can adjust everything so that the result is the best possible game. The early access version should be released this autumn. Manor Lords will remain in the preliminary access program for a year or two, during which time they will continue to grow.

Early access will include buildings, opponents controlled by artificial intelligence, diplomacy, a single map or infantry battles. The full version then offers fortifications and sieges, cavalry, crossbows and gunpowder. Large cities inspired by the late Middle Ages and more maps will also be added to the game. Of course, the full version can also become more expensive. The game can now be added to the wish list on Steam.
