The day after the dispute between the organizers of the Lauberhorn races in Wengen and Swiss-Ski reached a new escalation level, the Valaisers around the mountain railway president Franz Julen made their vision of a departure from Switzerland to Italy public in the “NZZ”. An almost five-kilometer long descent is planned, starting at just under 3900 meters, from the Klein Matterhorn across the state border into the Aosta Valley. At best, this should already take place in 2022 in the first or second week of November. “We want this race – and we will do everything we can,” said Julen, who would also limit a women’s race. “We are fully behind the project,” added FIS President Gian Franco Kasper. At 4,480 meters, the Lauberhorn descent in Wengen is the longest so far.
