“Leave it over there”: Mayor of Rancagua takes the picture of President Piñera out of his office | National

During the day on Tuesday a video went viral where you can see the mayor of Rancagua, Eduardo Soto, removing a Table of the President Sebastián Piñera from his office and replacing it with another.

The foregoing is generated in connection with the law that limits the re-election of mayors promulgated last Friday, a rule by which the highest municipal authority of Rancagua will also be affected.

On the video, Mayor Soto can be seen removing a painting by Sebastián Piñera and replacing it with one of Patrick mekis, who was mayor of Rancagua in three periods, as well as Santiago, as well as deputy of the Republic.

Likewise, when removing the picture, he indicates to the person who records it: “Leave it there, in any office.

Consulted by BioBioChile, the communications director of the Municipality of Rancagua, Carlos Baier, noted that it is a purely personal action carried out in the midst of a reorganization of his office.

“The mayor is reorganizing his personal office with personal photos and one of those photos (…) is that of Patricio Mekis, whom he admires as a distinguished figure of the municipalities and in the history of Chile, as a great mayor. (…) There is a phrase that Mayor Soto likes very much and put it there, ”he said.

Meanwhile, he clarified that “The photo of the President put it in the official office of meetings of authorities and the Municipal Council”.

Finally, he pointed out that the mayor preferred not to refer to the episode.
