KSC versus Bochum: “We are expecting an eleven who have lost nothing down there in the table”

All good things come in threes! And everyone at Karlsruher SC hopes that this saying will be true – with regard to the game against VfL Bochum on Sunday (kick-off 1.30 p.m. in the Wildpark Stadium). The first half of the season ended in a draw – a team is waiting for the KSC, which coach Christian Eichner has respect for.

After the showdown with the Revierclub, the young KSC trainer Christian Eichner wants to celebrate his third victory as head coach. And this third three under his direction should be the third game of the season in which the Baden team remained without conceding a goal.

The first round match ended 3: 3

In the first round, at the game in Bochum, the KSC conceded three goals, but delivered a good performance overall. Although the Baden team had to act outnumbered by 75 minutes after an unjustified suspension by Lukas Fröde, the team managed to win an away point in this turbulent game.

Anton Fink – brought on in minute 90 – scored in the 91st minute to equalize 3: 3. The other goal scorers were Philipp Hofmann and Kyoung-Rok Choi.

For VfL, according to video evidence, after a then discovered foul by Daniel Gordon, Danny Blum had hit with a safely converted penalty. Blum has KSC experience and played together with “Gordi” in a team. And the KSC defense chief praises the lightning-fast left foot in the highest tones: “Danny Blum is one in this league who can certainly be called a difference player!”

Dangerous: Bochum goal scorer Danny Blum

The 29 year old Blum is in top shape. His previous record shows this: 25 games, nine goals and eleven preparations. The other fast outside lane player also has a KSC past: Simon Zoller. The KSC home grown, technically strong and weasel-quick, was in the wildlife park from 2008 to 2012. At VfL, he made 22 appearances this round. He scored six times in the opposing housing and also prepared three goals. But next Sunday Blum won’t be on the pitch due to a calf strain.

On the other hand, Ex-KSC professional number three in the VfL squad does not get past the status of the additional player at the moment: Stefano Celozzi. He was only allowed to run five times a season. Last deployment of the 31-year-old: On November 22, 2019 against Osnabrück.

When Celozzi defended for the KSC right in the back four in the 2007/2008 season, the current KSC head coach Eichner was set as a left-back in the starting XI.

“The next final of eight remaining!”

“Oak” rarely thinks of this. He focuses on the current task against VfL. “Now we are starting the next attempt against Bochum to pull a team into our ‘world’.”

Then he warns: “An elf is waiting for us, who hasn’t lost anything down there in the table. But I believe that we got self-confidence last Saturday.” That would help. Still, everyone must be clear: “This will be the next final of eight remaining.”

There have been 58 games between the KSC and the “Dino” of the 2nd Bundesliga – Bochum has been playing in the soccer house for ten years. 14 KSC victories, 23 draws and 21 losses. The KSC offensive for top scorer Philipp Hofmann encourages VfL’s goal record. The VfL defensive has already conceded 45 goals – maybe “Hoffi” could strike again …
