“I remind you that the orange light is closer to red than green”: Sheinbaum

The head of government of the Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, recalled that the epidemiological traffic light of the capital continues in orange and in case of lowering the guard and increasing the confirmed cases of Covid-19, he could return to the red light, so he called for the sanitation measures to be maintained.

“We continue at an orange traffic light, this means the opening of some establishments with very strict sanitary rules, and with a capacity of only 30%. I remind you that the orange traffic light is closer to red than green, which means that we are still on alert and that if we let our guard down, we may have to return to the red traffic light very soon, “he said in a message published on his social networks. .

He recalled that during the week different establishments were opened with different rules to avoid contagions, in particular the shops of the Historic center, but many establishments did not comply with the sanitation rules and the influx overflowed causing a very high concentration of people.

For this reason, he said, the decision was made to close the Historic Center this Saturday and Sunday and to agree again with the merchants on stricter rules and greater communication with citizens to avoid outbreaks as has happened in other parts of the country and the world.

“Even when we know the difficult economic situation, health comes first, that is why we have seen the need to close for up to 15 days the establishments that are not complying with the protection measures to care for their workers and clients, and also so as not to put their families at risk.

“Likewise, we made the decision to postpone the opening of department stores and shopping malls from this coming Monday to Wednesday, in order to have stricter rules and prevent what happened in the Historic Center from happening to us. We will be reporting it in the coming days, “he said.

He commented that in the face of the challenge of the pandemic, trends and measures to be taken to avoid more infections must be reviewed every day.

“It is important to stop along the way and correct in time, that infections are seriously increased, because remember that this is about taking care of the health of everyone, of our families,” he said.
