I don’t think this is the reason ..
I think there are very few people who would voluntarily switch from the PC to a console.
Apart from the Exclusives, a console only offers disadvantages compared to a PC.
Sony has been busy for a while plan to bring first party games to PC.
They will probably follow Microsoft who has been “double dipped” for years with support for both platforms in his first party games.
If a game on the console doesn’t really sell anymore, Sony will bring them to the PC for a lot of extra profit without much effort, which is an understandable step in my view.
Horizon Zero Dawn is certainly not the first, and in recent months a large number of Playstation exclusives have already been ported to PC.
(for example the games of Quantic Dream, Persona 4, Journey etc.)
I am very happy that Sony made this choice.
I would never buy a console because of the closed ecosystem, the insanely expensive subscriptions and no upgrade options.
So for me this is the perfect solution.
Hopefully these games sell very well so that Sony will think twice about quitting again.
