Considered for a long time as the “antechamber” of the Oscars, the Golden Globes ceremony is carefully scrutinized by moviegoers and film professionals. The 77th edition, presented by the very naughty scratchy Ricky Gervais, has been held on January 5 since Beverly Hilton Hotel.
On the red carpet of the event evening, which rewards both the small and the big screen, the Hollywood stars took the pose smiling with the lips but with, we imagine it easily, a certain nervousness at the idea of leaving with a Golden Globe in the pocket … or not. Among those who left, also perky, were several members of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, by Quentin Tarantino. Released in August 2019, the ninth film by the American director raised $ 372 million at the world box office and made a splash during the evening! Brad Pitt, one of the headliners of the feature film, having thus received the third Golden Globe of his career while Tarantino received him the fourth.
Among the other winners of the evening was the film Joker driven by the incredible performance of Joaquin Phoenix, on the historic drama 1917 directed by Sam Mendes who himself admitted that it was “a big surprise“or the excellent film Parasite of South Korean Bong Joon-ho. Note also the return to the front of the stage of Renée Zellweger who was crowned best dramatic actress for her role of Judy Garland in the biopic Judy. Finally, on the television side, the excellent Olivia Colman reinforced her new status as a Hollywood darling by winning the Golden Globe for best actress for The Crown, while the series Succession was crowned in the dramatic category and Fleabag in that of comedy.
