“The low number of layoffs clearly shows that companies are trying to keep their skilled workers. Politicians make a significant contribution to securing jobs by paying short-time working benefits, ”says Weiß, whose Emmendinger part of the constituency belongs to the Freiburg agency district. This can also be seen in the figures from the Freiburg Employment Agency. “So far, around 86,000 employees have been shown short-time benefits. That is a third of all employees in the agency district who are subject to social security contributions, ”said agency director Ramm. A distinction must be made between notification and application. Around 58,000 employees applied for short-time work allowance, i.e. around two thirds of the short-time work reported. The member of the Bundestag was surprised by these figures: “In the financial and capital market crisis, only about a third of the short-time work indicated was actually paid out. The fact that around two-thirds of the short-time work indicated is now being used shows the dimension of the challenge for the labor market, ”said the member of the Bundestag, who is responsible for labor and social issues in the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. However, there are also first signs of relaxation. “The big rush was in mid-April,” said Ramm.
White also used the meeting to thank the outgoing agency manager for the years of good cooperation. There was particular appreciation and thanks from the member of the Bundestag for the use of Ramm in the creation of a German-French labor market. “Christian Ramm’s work at the Offenburg Employment Agency later, as head of the Employment Agency in Freiburg, helped to shape the labor market policy in the region on the southern Upper Rhine,” emphasized Peter Weiß. Above all, the trusting cooperation and quick information of the MPs distinguished him.
