“Dijon Cheerleaders” launches online kitty to go to Florida

The association “Dijon Cheerleaders” will participate in the next world championships in Orlando Florida in April 2020. The fourteen athletes and the coach of this club – the oldest in France, created in 2001 – validated their ticket on June 8 at the Lyon Open. They will compete in the “Freestyle Pom Dance” category. These girls are aged 14 to 25, these worlds are a first for them. Our champions hope to finish in the top ten. The cost of this trip is estimated at 2,000 euros per sportswoman.

Families get their hands on the wallet

Families were made to contribute up to 1,000 euros. The club, looking for sponsors, is also launching a kitty online to pay the other part of the trip. Catherine Gorcy, president of the “Dijon Cheerleaders”. “The problem is that we are selected but not taken care of at all. There are plane tickets to pay, accommodation on site to be able to spend a few days in Orlando and be able to participate in these championships.” It must be “costs families as little as possible” explains Catherine Gorcy. “But hey, it’s their dream, they want to go, and that’s why we really call for help so that our athletes can live this dream”.

Authentic sports

These young girls are real sportsmen, who train three to nine hours a week, sportsmen not to be confused with “cheerleaders”.
