Dental offices ready to reopen

Dentists and dental hygienists are ready to reopen for regular care. However, under appropriate circumstances: for example, patients must wash their hands upon entering and ensure that they are in the waiting room for as short a time as possible.

Practices must also prevent patients from touching door handles, chairs and table surfaces and magazines, leaflets and toys are removed. That is what the oral care domes propose in a guideline that they have sent to the Ministry of Health.

The Association of Dutch Dentists, NVM dental hygienists, The Organization of Dutch Dental Prostheticians and the Royal Dutch Society for the Promotion of Dentistry first advised practices to reopen from next Monday.

But after an “express appeal” from Minister Van Rijn, they wait with their advice until after the press conference of Prime Minister Rutte next Tuesday, they write.

Corona patients and those who have symptoms indicative of Covid-19 are not welcome in the practices. Their family members cannot be treated either.
