All DB Lounges reopened on May 29th
Since May 29, 2020 all DB Lounges in Germany are now open again, as can be found on the relevant website of the Deutsche Bahn. The corresponding premises are located in Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Essen, Frankfurt, Frankfurt Airport, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. Unfortunately, it is not known whether selected lounges have different opening times due to the lower demand than at regular times. However, one can basically prepare for the fact that the lounges are open again as before. The access rules should also not change, and the lounges of holders of a bahn.comfort status, a BahnCard 100 or guests with a daily 1st class long-distance travel ticket (only flex price) can use it.
According to the Bahn, there are restrictions, particularly with regard to the seat quota. In order to keep a safety distance of 1.5 meters between guests, the number of seats in the lounges was reduced. This is understandable, because up to now the armchairs in most of the lounges on the train have been very narrow. According to the company, access to the lounges is therefore only as many guests as there are seats in the lounge. We therefore ask that guests limit the time in the lounges as far as possible and only visit the lounges if there is a direct connection to the trip. In general, holders of a bahn.comfort status and a BahnCard 100 have access to the lounge regardless of a train ticket and can also use it without a corresponding train journey.
Conclusion on the reopening of the DB Lounges
The DB Lounges in Germany are now open again, albeit with restricted access in view of the number of simultaneous users. There are apparently no major changes to the catering offer, however, in DB lounges there is generally only water, soft drinks and coffee specialties (small snacks are served in the 1st class). However, it can generally be assumed that depending on the lounge, there may be further restrictions, such as opening times. Nevertheless, it is positive to see that the lounges of the Deutsche Bahn have now reopened all over Germany.
