Curious, What Causes Children’s Allergies?

Suara.com – Allergies can be experienced by anyone, ranging from infants, children, to adults. Allergies are usually characterized by redness of the skin to the malfunction of one of the organs.

Then, what causes a person experiencing allergies?

Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Setiabudiawan, Sp.A (K), M. Kes, a child allergist and immunologist, said allergies come from a variety of factors, one of which is the greatest genetic or hereditary factor.

“This allergic child will mainly occur in children who have allergic talent, it is revealed there is a genetic factor,” said Prof. Budi in the IG Live Pediatrician Association (IDAI), Tuesday (6/30/2020).

He said, children with allergic talent will bring up allergies later in life, up to 40 percent. In addition, if one parent suffers from allergies, the risk increases to 60 percent.

“It would be 80 percent if the mother and father had the same allergy, like both asthma. If there is one of his siblings, or his brother, then the risk is up to 30 percent, it’s genetic factors that someone has allergies that arise later in life,” he explained.

In addition, the environment can also be a cause of someone suffering from allergies. This environment can be a trigger for children experiencing allergies. For example first this allergy never appeared when living in hot areas, but then had to move to cooler areas. Suddenly the child can experience skin problems because it was discovered he had a cold temperature allergy.

“Supporting environmental factors, in the last two years there are indications. If there are environmental factors, allergies will emerge, if there is a trigger, the disease will arise due to abnormalities of certain organs,” he explained.

So, said Prof. Budi, it is important to pay attention to what triggers an allergy in a person. This is what must be prevented so that diseases that accompany allergies, such as dermatitis, do not occur.
