Cinema: NIFF’s online edition ends on a positive note – Entertainment News: Cinema

The Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) ended on Saturday. Completely online this year due to the coronavirus, this special edition allowed Internet users to buy films online and follow a daily program.

These nine days of “intense audiovisual creation”, according to the organizers in a press release published on Saturday, ended with the presentation of the public’s prize to the anarcho-punk comedy Dinner in America by A. Paul Schrader, director of New Hollywood, is awarded the Narcissus HR Giger of honor.

The video on demand platform set up by the festival has passed the milestone of 4,000 films purchased, which are distributed evenly across the selection. This panorama found its audience among festival and genre cinema fans who opted en masse for multi-session subscriptions (85% of purchases).

NIFFF TV also offered, in the presence of 77 guests, a daily program. This proposal was able to unite a large audience oscillating over the event between 1500 and 2000 daily views, for a total of around 15’000 views.

This special NIFF marks the departure of its general and artistic director Anaïs Emery on October 31st. In 2021, she will join the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF). The artistic direction post will be assumed ad interim by Loïc Valceschini. (nxp)
