Chronology of Adolescents in South Tangerang Entwined by Snakes to Death on the Edge of Kali Page all

TANGERANG SELATAN, KOMPAS.com – Teenager with the initial Y (13) was found dead after being snapped around the edge of Kali XII Kencana Loka River, Rawa Buntu Village, Serpong District, South Tangerang City.

Serpong Criminal Investigation Unit Head Iptu Lutfi Hayata explained, the incident was discovered after a witness initials R (13) who was a friend of the victim sought help from local residents.

“The witness went up from the river to ask for help from residents,” Lutfi told Kompas.com Wednesday (07/08/2020).

Lutfi said, at first Y and R were riding motorbikes on the road around Sector XII Kencana Loka River to look for snakes.

Then, both of them stopped at the edge of the river because Y wanted to urinate. It was then that the victim saw a snake passing by at this time.

After learning about the existence of the snake, Y and R took the initiative to go down to the edge of Kali XII Sector Kencana Loka and managed to catch it.

“The temporary statement from the witness is that he and the victim want to find a snake,” he said.

Shortly thereafter the snake provides resistance by wrapping the victim’s body.

R also tried to help by releasing snakes from the victim’s body but to no avail.

“The witness tried to help the victim by pulling the snake, but it was not strong,” he said.

Furthermore, R asked for help from residents around the location. However, residents did not dare to go straight down to the river and help the victim who was wrapped around the snake.

“No one dares to help. Finally, witnesses and residents only saw the snake wrapped around the victim until the snake left the victim,” Lutfi said.

According to Lutfi, the victim was immediately taken to a funeral home for burial and the family did not want an autopsy.

“The victim’s family has resigned, do not want autopsy. So immediately taken to the funeral home to be buried in his hometown,” he said.

Lutfi added that he would still be investigating the incident by requesting further information from witness R who is currently undergoing trauma healing therapy.

“We cannot ask for further information from the witness and the victim, because of trauma and her family is being taken for trauma healing. But it has been confirmed to us to be able to give information tomorrow,” he concluded.
