With an African level, Nigeria tops the Paralympics table. The athletes in the Cape have won 280 medals up to now. That isn’t much compared to Paralympics champion USA with ist 2,300 medals, but greater than Kenya using its 43 medals. Other African nations like Botswana haven’t won just one medal. Between 1980 and 1992, Apartheid Nigeria, wasn’t welcome in the Paralympics as well as in the old age of the period, it had been banned form taking part altogether.
There are more Paralympics stars, stated SASPD president Grobbelaar. Swimmer Natalie du Toit, for example, or track and field athlete Ilse Hayes Carstens. Ntutu sees Pistorius’ role like a Paralympics champion similarly: “He was most likely an idol to everyone. Volunteers like Strydom are specifically important on the provincial and regional level.
