Argentina surpassed 10,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus on Friday, after recording the highest daily increase since the start of the pandemic.
Government data showed 10,649 cases, an increase of 718 from the previous day, mostly in the capital, Buenos Aires. The number of deaths reached 433 cases.
The confirmed incidence of corona infection increased steadily in the past week.
Argentina has imposed mandatory public isolation in most regions since March 20 and applies one of the most stringent restrictions on travel in the world by preventing the buying and selling of airline tickets until September.
The government extended public isolation until May 24 in some areas of the country, while easing some of the limited restrictions on movement and the business sector.
