AMLO to respect Sener policy ruling, but readies complaints

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador He assured that they will respect the ruling of the Court, which yesterday granted a suspension to the Federal Commission on Economic Competition (Cofece) against the new policy of the Ministry of Energy (Sener). However, he warned that they enlist fraud complaints to the electricity sector.

“We are going to respect what the Court decided and we are going to defend the public interest. It does not make it take us time, the four years if the people decide, but we are not going to be complicit in corruption, the looting was a lot, an exaggerated thing, ”he stated in a morning conference.

The President warned that they are preparing complaints against those who committed fraud in the electricity sector, since, he affirmed, “misdeeds” were committed in the electricity sector for a long time, starting with the fact that contracts were handed out to individuals when the Constitution did not allow it.

He explained that previously officials agreed with private companies. “It was a conspiracy to steal, to bag the people. All these tricks are always to the detriment of the people, it is he who has to pay more for electricity, “he added.

“The CFE had to pay a cost, but after signing the contract, another one was signed without a tender, an administrative agreement with a different rate, of course higher, This has led to the need to buy electricity from private companies at extremely high prices. with a subsidy through this illegal procedure, then we will proceed. Yes, against those who are responsible because it is a fraud, the delivery of the contracts was simulated and damage was caused to the public treasury. We have estimated the damage, in due course we will report, one by one, “he explained.

For this reason, he said that he gave the instruction to start preparing the complaints.

Last week Cofece filed a constitutional controversy against the policy of reliability, safety, continuity and quality in the National Electric System (SEN), issued by Sener considering that it violates the fundamental principles of competition and free competition ordered in the Constitution of the country, so that it affects its constitutional mandate and invades its sphere of competence.

The minister Luis María Aguilar Morales of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) admitted the constitutional controversy yesterday and issued an agreement where he granted the precautionary measure, so now the reliability policy that Sener issued in 2017.
