Heard besides Netflix
Amazon Prime Video on the pioneers of video streaming portals. But even though both services have been heavyweights in the industry for years and each have many millions of subscribers, Amazon is only now introducing a basic function to its service: As the company has now announced, Prime Video has been given profile management. Both Netflix and Disney + have been offering such a profile function since the services were made available in Germany.
According to Amazon, it will be possible to have up to six Profile for an account. The big advantage: Every user is shown personalized content tailored to their own preferences. So far, it has been very confusing when parents and children, for example, have shared an account and cartoons have appeared between thriller recommendations. Another plus point: If several family members watch the same series, everyone will now see their own progress.
Amazon Prime Video gets children’s profiles
As with the competition, each profile is given its own list. There are no profile pictures (yet). With the introduction of profiles at Amazon Prime Video there will also be the possibility to open special children’s profiles, in which only age-appropriate content is displayed and in which the loan and purchase function is deactivated.
Unlike Netflix and Disney +, not all content is included in the subscription fee at Amazon Prime Video, instead you can purchase current films if required for an additional fee. At the start, a profile cannot be protected with a PIN – Amazon should provide this function promptly so that children cannot accidentally select the profile of their parents.
Amazon will provide profile management in stages for subscribers. Until the function is available to all users, patience is required. In addition, it will not be available on all devices at the start, exact information is not yet known.
