Alfaro warns of ‘dry stop’ in Jalisco by COVID

The Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, said that if the spike in coronavirus cases continues in the state, an “emergency button” would be activated and there would be a “dry stop” of activities for 14 days, so that the epidemic does not end. of control.

In a video, Alfaro reported a change in strategy, after the average number of daily infections in the last week was 536 people. “We have been with more than 1,600 active cases for three weeks, 25% of the 867 deaths in the state occurred in the last week”he mentioned.

Given this, and the wear and tear of medical personnel, Alfaro indicated that the Jalisco Health Bureau decided to implement an emergency button mechanism, which will have two indicators for eventual activation, saturation of the hospital system and incidence rate by date of onset of symptoms.

The emergency button and the “dry stop” would be applied if the first indicator, of saturation of the hospital system, reaches 50%. It is currently at 26%.

Also if the second indicator, of incidence, reaches 400 cases per million inhabitants. It is currently at 290.

The 14-day “dry stop”, he said, would mean “shutting down all industry, commerce and services, only the operation of the health and security services and those related to food supply would continue. ” They could not operate the restaurants or in their mode of home delivery, she explained. There would also be no public transport service, other than for health and security personnel.

“The tianguis could not operate, nor the banks, nor the churches, nor the government, nor the squares or commercial corridors. Only markets and self-service stores could open during the week, only for food sales, ”he said.
