Prime Minister Ünal Üstel noted that special and important dates such as August 1 are extremely important for Turkish Cypriots to remember and learn about their history and to draw lessons from the past.
Saying, “As the Turkish Cypriot people, we will not forget, we will not let you forget what we have come through while we are directing our future as the Turkish Cypriot people”, Prime Minister Üstel emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people will continue their existence in this land forever with the great support of the Motherland Turkey, and that they will protect the state they have established with great pain and sacrifices.
“The Turkish Cypriot people have not stopped resisting even for a moment”
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated the following in his August 1 message:
“It is the 452nd of the conquest of Cyprus in 1571, which started the Turkish presence and administration on the island, the 65th of the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization in 1958, which has become the symbol of our resistance in order to maintain our presence on the island, and the standard that it took over in 1976 and the spirit of TMT, to live safely and freely. I am very proud and happy to realize the 1st August Social Resistance Day, which we celebrate the 47th anniversary of the establishment of our Security Forces Command, which has become the guarantee of our security forces. These three important turning points that left their mark on our history are the symbols of the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle for existence on the island, which is full of victories and glorious resistances. Until they were liberated from captivity with courage and had a state and a republic, the Turkish Cypriot people paid a price that could hardly be seen in history, suffered, but did not stop resisting even for a moment.
For this reason, special and important dates such as August 1 are extremely important for Turkish Cypriots to remember and learn history and to learn lessons from the past. As the Turkish Cypriot people, as we shape our future, we will not forget, we will not let you forget what we have passed through. It should be known that; The Turkish Cypriot people, with the great support of the Motherland Turkey, will continue their existence in these lands forever, protect their state, which they established with great pain and sacrifice, and will glorify and keep it alive. On this occasion; We commemorate with mercy and gratitude all our Martyrs, veterans and all heroes of our struggle for existence, with mercy and gratitude, to our Motherland Turkey, which is with the Turkish Cypriots unconditionally and unconditionally, and to all Turkish Armed Forces and GKK.
